Razlog is embraced by three majestic mountains – Rila, Pirin and the Rhodope Mountains. Large parts of the Rila and Pirin National Parks are located here. The latter has been a UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site since 1983. On the territory of the Pirin National Park – the Bayuvi Dupki – Dzhindzhiritsa reserve, there are the largest deposits of alpine edelweiss in Europe. Over half of the area of the Pirin National Park is occupied by coniferous forests, mainly white and black pines. The average age of these trees is 150 years, and two of the black pines are millennial.
